The lively sports boat scene on Lake Balaton in Hungary is growing. Code Yachts is now building a ten-metre racer by Andrej Justin

With the Code 8 (test in YACHT 17/2013), the Company Code Yachts in Budapest has already landed its first success. The eight-metre carbon fibre flyweight has already been sold several times, especially on Europe's inland lakes. And the Code 8 has already achieved numerous good results. Among other things, the boat finished in the top ten overall at the legendary Centomiglia on Lake Garda.

Code Yachts has now published the first plans for a ten-metre racer. Designer Andrej Justin has now followed up the Code 8 with the Code 10. The racing machine is currently being built by carbon specialist Pauger in Hungary, completely in carbon fibre and using the vacuum infusion process. The rig is also made by Pauger, naturally also from carbon fibre.

The Code 10 will be equipped with a tilting keel, which will be operated via bulkheads and winches. This will allow the profile to be swivelled 45 degrees to either side. An additional centreboard in front of the mast will provide sufficient lateral surface area below the waterline. The Code 10 will only weigh 1800 kilograms, 920 kilograms of which are in the T-keel with a draught of two metres.

The bowsprit is permanently attached and extends the boat by two metres. A 130 square metre gennaker or a code zero can be attached to it. The companionway is offset to port for easier handling with the asymmetrical sail when setting and retrieving. Instead, the halyards and trim lines run across the deck on the starboard side. It will be possible to equip the ship with a built-in engine as an option. Yanmar units with 15 or 20 hp are proposed.

The shipyard expects the Code 10 to be completed in early summer 2016, with the exciting racer set to make its debut at the start of June at the Lake Constance endurance classic "Rund-Um". The price is interesting: the shipyard wants 136,500 euros (incl. VAT) for the carbon racer with a complete regatta-compatible interior, but without the sails and electronics.
